ECAM

Also from: Electronic Centralized Aircraft Monitoring

Consists of 2 displays and the ECAM control panel. The upper display is the E/WD, and the lower screen is the S/D. The displays are turned on or off using the brightness controls. If a screen fails, the E/WD takes priority, and pages on the S/D are displayed by holding the associated pb sw on the ECAM control panel.

Interfaces

Data is input from aircraft system sensors around the aircraft into 3 DMCs. For the majority of systems, sensor data is supplied to 2 SDACs which process the data before sending it to the DMCs. Data is also fed to FWCs from aircraft sensors for red warnings, and from the SDACs for amber warnings.

Normally, DMC3 supplies the ECAM system, with DMC1 and DMC2 acting as backup.

Redserious parameter exceedance and warnings requiring immediate crew action

ECAM advisory

When a parameter approaches a limit, it will pulse (green - gray - green etc.).

ECAM caution

When a failure occurs leading to a loss of redundancy or a system not affecting safety, an amber message is displayed on the E/WD and the CLR buttons on the ECAM control panel illuminate. Pressing CLR clears the message and the status page is displayed automatically.

ECAM warning

A warning causes the MASTER WARN to illuminate and a continuous repetitve chime to sound, as well as a red message to be displayed on the E/WD.
