Thrust Levers

On the ground, thrust control is conventional, by moving the thrust levers.

Thrust control can be manual, by moving the thrust levers, or automatic, when the autothrust is active.

For takeoff, move the thrust levers to 1.1 EPR. FLEX (or TOGA) takeoff thrust is applied on both engines by then moving the thrust levers to the appropriate detent.

At the thrust reduction altitude, the thrust levers should be moved to the CL detent. They remain there for climb, cruise and descent. During the landing, the thrust levers are manually reduced to IDLE.

Reverse

There are 2 positions.

  • REV IDLE
  • MAX REV (can be selected once the REV on the EPR gauge becomes REV)

At 80 kts, the levers must be moved to REV IDLE, and stowed at taxi speed before leaving the runway.
