Electric Hydraulic Pumps

If an electric pump overheats, it automatically shuts down.

Green system

Has an automatically controlled electric pump. Automatic operation:

  • in the event of failure of engines 1 or 4, when the landing gear lever is selected up with speed above 100 kts (runs for 25s) (assists gear retraction)
  • on the ground with engines 1 and 4 stopped and engines 2 and 3 running (provide braking and nose wheel steering for taxi)

Blue system

Has a manually controlled electric pump. Manual operation:

  • can be used to pressurise the park brake

Yellow system

Has an automatically controlled electric pump. Automatic operation:

  • in flight in the event of failure of engine 3 with the FLAPS lever not 0 and speed above 100 kts, if the green electric pump is not running (assists flap retraction) - in this case, the pump will continue to run unless turned off manually
  • on the ground during cargo door operation
