CAS
Crew alerting system
Top right part of the EICAS used to display messages. Warning, caution, and advisory messages are presented flashing in inverse video until acknowledgement via the master warning or caution, or automatically after 5s for advisory messages.
Message types
Warning | emergency conditions requiring immediate corrective or compensatory crew action |
Caution | abnormal conditions requiring immediate crew awareness and subsequent corrective or compensatory crew action |
Advisory | operational conditions requiring crew awareness and may require subsequent or future crew actions |
Status | information or status messages |
Display
Messages are displayed grouped by type. New messages flash until acknowledged using CAUT or WARN buttons, or after 5s for advisory messages.
Status line
A status line is displayed to indicate out of view messages.
Control
The CCDs can be used to scroll through messages, although warning messages cannot be scrolled out of view.
Inhibition logic
K codes are used to indicate when particular messages on the CAS are inhibited.
