NWSCM

Also from: Nose wheel steering control module

An electronically controlled and hydraulically actuated steer-by-wire system, operating in either the normal mode or the free-wheel steering mode. The maximum steering angle is 76°, further limited down to 7° as speed increases from 40-100kts. The system has 2 channels. The NWSCM is switched off after takeoff.

Controls the towing lights on the nose landing gear strut. A green light signals ground crew that towing is permitted, and a red light signals that towing is not permitted. This will occur if the steering motor is pressurised, when operating in active mode, or if any brakes are pressurised.

EICAS messages

STEER FAIL - the NWSCM switches to free-wheel steering mode, steering by differential braking or rudder

LG NO DISPATCH - nose wheel steering over-travel has occurred, PSEM fault, or WOW fault
