Autothrust
Also from: A/THR
The autothrust has 2 channels, each channel controlled by the respective FMGC. Each channel can control thrust through 2 engine interface units and 2 electronic engine controls. The autothrust is automatically armed when the thrust levers are set for takeoff (TOGA or FLEX/MCT).
In flight, beyond the CL detent (2 engines) or the FLEX/MCT detent (OEI) the thrust may be manually controlled. Retarding the thrust levers to IDLE in a landing disconnects the A/THR.
If one of the disconnect buttons is pushed for at least 15s, the A/THR (and Alpha Floor) is inhibited for the rest of the flight.
Modes
SPEED | A/THR adjusts thrust to maintain a target speed |
THR | A/THR sets a given thrust |
Quadrants
IDLE | |
CL | max climb thrust |
FLEX/MCT | flex takeoff or max continuous thrust |
TOGA | maximum takeoff or go around thrust |
Failures
ENG1(2) EPR MODE FAULT | - when EPR is lost the autothrust is disconnected - both engines must be switched to N1 mode - the N1 gauge now includes thrust lever position and max N1 |
THR LK appears on the FMA if the A/THR disconnects due to failure. The thrust remains at the current setting. If manually disconnected the thrust goes to the TLA.
