BMC
Also from: Bleed Monitoring Computer
There are 2 BMCs, 1 for each engine bleed system. The BMCs control their respective bleed valves, and send indications and warnings to the ECAM and CMC. If a leak is detected in the bleed air duct, a signal is sent to the BMCs which then isolates the affected area.
Only BMC 1 monitors the APU duct for leaks.
The BMCs close their respective bleed valves when:
- APU bleed valve is open
- during engine start
- when there are failures (such as leak in the leak detection ducts)
Failures
If 1 BMC fails, the other takes over, although the FAULT light on the AIR panel is lost for that side, as is the ENG 1(2) BLEED LEAK caution. The bleed valve does not close automatically. If BMC 1 is lost, APU BLEED LEAK is also lost.
