MCDU

There are 3 MCDUs. MCDUs 1 and 2 display data from their respective FMGCs, and MCDU 3 acts as a backup. MCDU 3 cannot take over backup nav functions. Information is kept synchronised between the 3.

Data entry
User waypoints can be entered as place/bearing/distance or place-bearing/place-bearing.

Failures
Locked MCDU
If data cannot be entered, switch off the MCDU for 5s, then switch back on.
MCDU Failure
Indicated by the FAIL annunciation. If the failed MCDU is switched off, MCDU 3 replaces it.
