Air Data and Inertial Reference System

Also from: ADIRS

Provides air data and inertial information to the EFIS, FMGC, and other users (fly-by-wire controls, engine management system, GPWS, transponder, SFCC). The system consists of:

  • 3 separate ADIRUs
  • one ADIRS panel on the overhead panel
  • 2 GPS receivers
  • sensors
  • 8 ADMs
  • switching for use in failures
  • a MAG/TRUE pb sw for polar navigation

Air Data Modules

Connected to each of the pitot probes and static ports (the 2 standby static ports are connected to 1 ADM) and supply numerical data to the ADIRUs. Only the standby instruments (such as ISIS) get speed and altitude information directly from pneumatic inputs without processing by an ADM.

Failures

NAV ADR 1(2) FAULT- speed and altitude information lost from affected PFD
- AIR DATA sw should be selected to failed side
- failed ADR and GPWS must be switched off
NAV ATT DISCREPANCY- different attitude displayed on captain's and first officer's PFDs
- ATT HDG sw should be selected to failed side
