Green System

Also from: Green Hydraulics

Pressurised by two engine driven pumps and one electric pump. In an emergency, the green system can be pressurised by the RAT.

The green fire shutoff valves close automatically if the reservoir level is low (this is not true for the blue and yellow systems). Note that fluid is still available to the electric pump and the RAT in this situation.

The ECAM display for the green system quantity includes 2 amber lines when the fluid level reduces to 17 L. At this point, a HYD G RSVR UNDERFILLED (on the ground) or a HYD G SYS LEAK (airborne) ECAM is triggered.(1)

During landing gear retraction, there is a slight increase in the green hydraulic fluid level.

Priority function

In the event of low hydraulic pressure (< 2,000 psi), a priority valve cuts off power to the emergency generator, nose wheel steering, and landing gear to keep pressure for normal braking and flight controls. If the pressure increases again, the priority valve will re-open.

Notes

(1): Note that the actual point at which the ECAMs are triggered is a function of temperature when the temperature is below 0°C.
