Landing Gear
Gears and doors are electrically controlled and hydraulically operated (green system). The hydraulic supply is isolated by a safety valve above 280 kts. This prevents loss of green system fluid in the event of a landing gear leak.
The gear doors fitted to the struts are mechanically operated. There are 3 gear pins and covers which are stowed for flight.
- There is a shortening mechanism attached to the wing that reduces main gear length by retracting the shock absorber during retraction.
- There is a hydraulic pitch trimmer on each bogie beam that damps movement and ensure the rear bogie trails after takeoff.
Hydraulic pressure to the gear actuators is isolated when the gear is retracted, except to the pitch trimmer.
