The A340-300 was launched in 1987 and began service in 1993, and was designed in parallel with the A330. The A340 range consists of the -200 and -300 using CFM56-5C2 engines, and the -500 and -600 with Trent 500 engines. Depending on the variant, the aircraft range varies from 7,400nm to 9,000nm, and can carry up to 440 people.
