Hydraulic Systems
The three hydraulic systems are green, blue, and yellow. Each system has a fire shut off valve between the reservoir and engine driven pumps. Each system delivers a constant 3000 PSI.
The 3 systems are totally independent and isolated. Engine 1 is used to pressurise the hydraulic reservoirs, although any other source on the cross bleed duct can also be used (for example, engines off when on the ground).
Failures
HYD G(B)(Y) ENG 1(2) PUMP LO PR | - there may be a pressure drop if remaining pumps cannot generate sufficient pressure |
HYD G(B)(Y) RSVR LO LVL | - the hydraulic system pumps will need to be switched off - a G(B)(Y) SYS LO PR caution will appear after the system depressurises - ECAM pages for secondary affected systems are automatically displayed - < 8L (green system) / < 5L (blue & yellow systems) |
HYD G(B)(Y) RSVR OVHT | - the hydraulic system pumps will need to be switched off - a G(B)(Y) SYS LO PR caution will appear after the system depressurises - ECAM pages for secondary affected systems are automatically displayed |
HYD G(B)(Y) SYS LEAK | - causes the fire shutoff valves to close automatically once a low level is detected (green system only) |
A double failure, for example HYD B+Y SYS LO PR, could cause an autopilot disconnect and a LAND ASAP message.
